https://ojs.unpatti.ac.id/index.php/ises/article/view/812
Quality of education plays an important role in the success of national development. This is one of the 17 goals with respect to the UNESCO’s Global Action Program (GAP) of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In order to achieve the goal, it needs long-term and systems thinking, dealing with complexities and working in partnerships as the foundation for creating sustainable development and improve the quality of life. Therefore, every education institution should attempt to achieve it by doing continuous quality improvement. For this regard, it needs to implement a proper quality education management concept, i.e., the total quality management. The application of this concept can create an academic culture, mutual trust, participation, teamwork, quality mindset, and continuous improvement and development in the educational institution, and it requires a jump of focus from short-term orientation to long-term orientation, and it is also necessary to change organizational culture based on academic culture.Mohammad Ali

https://ojs.unpatti.ac.id/index.php/ises/article/view/813
Mathematics learning in schools has tended to use<br />conventional learning. This study aims to determine the differences in<br />learning outcomes of students of 8th class in Amahai Christian Middle<br />School who are taught with Realistic Mathematics Education model<br />in a Rural context with a conventional Education model. This study<br />used pretest and posttest. Pretest value is used to determine the initial<br />ability of students in the experimental class and control class. By using<br />a statistical prerequisite test for normality, homogeneity and<br />difference test for prettest values. The results of the prettest normality<br />test for the experimental class with sig = 0.116> α = 0.05 and the<br />control class with sig = 0.108> α = 0.05, the data is normally<br />distributed. Then proceed with the prettest homogeneity test. Both<br />classes show homogeneous variants with values of sig 0.016> α =<br />0.05. After the second prerequisite test was fulfilled, then it continued<br />with one-way ANOVA test with a value of sig = 0.117> α = 0.05, so<br />it can be concluded that there is no difference in the initial ability of<br />the two classes. Then the treatment was carried out for the<br />experimental class and control class, after that the posttest was then<br />analyzed with normality test with sig = 0.138> α = 0.05 for the<br />experimental class and sig = 0.060> α = 0.05. For the control class,<br />the data was normally distributed. Then proceed with the posttest<br />homogeneity test. It showing homogeneous variance with sig = 0.522><br />α = 0.05. After the second prerequisite test is fulfilled, then it is<br />continued with one-way ANOVA test with sig = 0.01 <α = 0.05. So,<br />it can be concluded that there are significant differences in learning<br />outcomes between students taught with Realistic Mathematics<br />Education in a rural context better than Conventional EducationAnderson PalinussaJuliana MolleMegi Gazpers

https://ojs.unpatti.ac.id/index.php/ises/article/view/818
The results of the initial publication of this study suggested that the ideal syllabus for the Deutsch für Tourismus (DfT) lecture gave emphasis to two important elements, namely more comprehensive teaching materials and presentation methods. The Deutsch für Tourismus material presentation method must provide space and time for students to explore tourism potential in Maluku and communicate it with good and correct German in practice or simulation. Therefore, it is necessary to develop more comprehensive teaching materials by paying attention to the characteristics of Maluku, as well as the appropriate method of presentation. This follow-up study aims to develop more comprehensive teaching materials that can support DfT lectures that emphasize the students' skills to communicate about tourist attractions, especially in Maluku, using German with the right "Fachbegriff". Writing this teaching material is based on research and development procedures developed by Plomp in Ratumanan et al (2013), namely the phase, which as follows (1) preliminary investigation, (2) design, (3) realization / construction, (4) test, evaluation , and revision, and (5) implementation. The first to third phases have been carried out in the first phase of the research so that this stage is continued with a trial and revision phase based on the results of observations and validator notes to get the final product. The final product of this study shows that DfT teaching material is quite comprehensive, because it includes information about the main objects on the islands of Ambon and Central Maluku, as well as lecture methods that are more directed to the principles of student center learning (SCL). The development of teaching materials has met the requirements of validity, practicality, and effectiveness, and has fulfilled the principles of developing instructional materials, namely the principle of relevance, the principle of consistency, the principle of material adequacy, the principle of material suitability with the participants' maturity and readability Thus the final product of this research is declared feasible to be used in the Deutsch für Tourismus lecture.Henderika SerparaKalvin KarunaMaria Nikijuluw

https://ojs.unpatti.ac.id/index.php/ises/article/view/827
Biology learning is a subject that is considered important in shaping students to be qualified. There are allegations of the low quality and low motivation of students, because: 1) There is no experience of students in learning to find and find their own concepts or material to be taught: 2) Students are not directly involved in assessment; 3) Teachers are less creative; 4). Saturation occurs with students. This study aims to improve the quality of learning and student motivation in mastering the concept of Plant Classification System in class X of SMA Negeri 7 Ambon. This study used a Classroom Action Research Design completed in three cycles. The results achieved illustrate that the better the learning managed by the teacher in the classroom, the better the quality of learning. Structured assignments, interesting material delivery, harmonious attitudes between teachers and students, between students themselves, and support by teachers increases student learning motivation. The teacher's attitude in dividing attention, concentrating group attention, reprimanding students, and providing reinforcement increases student learning motivation. The processing of classes, including: setting up learning facilities, arrangement of seating, lighting, and aeration space, is a supporting factor for the learning process and a conducive learning climate.Pamella Mercy PapilayaLousiana Magdalena Matruty

https://ojs.unpatti.ac.id/index.php/ises/article/view/830
Mercury and its derivatives have long been known to be very toxic so that their presence in the aquatic environment can cause harm to humans because they are soluble and bound in the body tissues of aquatic organisms. Besides mercury pollution has an influence on the local ecosystem due to its stable nature in sediments, its low solubility in water and its youthfulness are absorbed and accumulates in the body tissues of aquatic organisms, both through the bioaccumulation process and biomagnification that is through the food chain. This research was conducted to determine the levels of heavy metal mercury (Hg) in the body of water from the Waiapu river Buru Island. This is very important to do because so far the river has traditionally been used as a waste disposal site for gold processing waste. The field research stage includes measurements of physical and chemical parameters and sampling taken in July 2015. River water samples are then sent to the Chemical Laboratory of Muhammadiyah University Malang for measuring mercury contents using AAS with a calibration curve technique. The results showed that the mercury levels in the three sample locations, namely A B and C respectively were: 1.392 ppm, 1.5912 ppm and 3.1975 ppm exceeded the standards set by the government through the Republic of Indonesia's Minister of Environment Decree Number 115 of 2003 namely the threshold the limit of mercury (Hg) in class C water is 0.002 ppm.Abraham MariwyYati TuasamuWarinah Warinah

The objective of this research is to know the seed germination<br />of local corn cultivar Kuning Dalam with using different kind of soaking<br />materials. The kind of chemical materials and organic materials that being<br />used are: KNO3 on concentration 10% and 15%, Gibberellic acid on<br />concentration 50 ppm and 100 ppm, unripe-coconut water, and ripecoconut<br />water. The corn seeds soaked in KNO3 10%, KNO3 15%,<br />Gibereline 50 ppm, Gibereline 100 ppm, unripe-coconut water, and ripecoconut<br />water for about 24 hours. The seeds then planted on polybags<br />sized 15 x 20 cm for 5 seeds per polybags. Observation being held when<br />those plants grew on age 10 days after plantation. The parameter that<br />being observed was the germination percentage, Plant Height, Number of<br />Leaves, Leaf Length, and Leaf Width. The research result data will be<br />tabulated in form of graph and narrated descriptively to see the<br />comparison between each kind of materials used in soaking treatment.<br />The research result shows that on treatment using KNO3, both 10% or<br />15% concentration, both giving germination percentage up to 93%, while<br />for the plant height, number of leaves and leaf length variable, the<br />treatment using KNO3 10% is higher than KNO3 15%, but on the variable<br />of leaf width, the treatment using KNO3 15% is higher than 10%. On the<br />treatment using GA3, on both concentration 50 or 100 ppm, both giving<br />highest germination percentage up to 100%, while for the variable of<br />plant height, number of leaves, leaf length and leaf width, GA3 100 is<br />higher than GA3 50 ppm. For the treatment using coconut water, both<br />unripe-coconut water and ripe-coconut water, both contribute 80% in the<br />germination, while for the variable of plant height, number of leaves, leaf<br />length, and leaf width we got the highest value for treatment using unripecoconut<br />water. Based on these result, it can be concluded that to<br />stimulate the seed germination of corn cultivar Kuning Dalam using<br />KNO3 10%, GA3 100 ppm, and unripe coconut water to soak it for almost<br />24 hours.Herlin Sinay

https://ojs.unpatti.ac.id/index.php/ises/article/view/832
Physical education is a process of learning through physical activity designed to enhance the growth and development of the realm; both the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective through activities that are performed in order to improve physical fitness, develop motor skills, knowledge, behavior of healthy living and active attitude, sportsmanship, as well as emotional intelligence, with structuring a good learning environment. For the purposes referred to professional personnel required special competence in physical education which can handle the process of learning of physical education. Presence of a 2013 curriculum has been officially in use nationally, in fact far from maximum to be applied in schools, although the learning process has been supplemented by teachers who competence in the field of physical education. This is because there are still differences of curriculum implementation in the process of learning the real 2013, given characteristic. This research was carried out with the purpose "to analyze the ability of physical education teachers in managing their learning at the level of a junior high school in the city of Ambon", to obtain data on the subject of deeply researched then This research will be carried out using a descriptive approach qualitative. As for techniques to collect data in this study among others; 1) observation, 2) interview, 3) documentation, 4) triangulation. As for analyzing the data obtained, then used the technique of analysis of data flow model from Miles and Huberman, 1984 (in Sugiyono, 2013). The results of this research will be to know the ability of physical education teachers in managing learning based on the curriculum implementation in 2013, as well as information and materials can be donated to mind for teachers of physical education generally as well as related institutions in this Office of education and sports of the city of Ambon, in the framework of learning process improvement.J AnaktototyM Souisa

2019-05-062019-05-062Material Development of English For Chemistry Subject Based On The Needs Analysis of Students’ in Chemisty Education Study Program
https://ojs.unpatti.ac.id/index.php/ises/article/view/833
The increasing demand for international communication and competition in the global work field have required someone to not only being competent in their major field of study, but also competent in English language as the international media of communication, in both oral and written form. Hence, it is crucial that the English Language learning in University must be able to provide a comprehensive and professional English that not only relevant to their field of study but also meet the demand and needs of the target learning and work field. It is unfortunate that the process of learning English, particularly English for Specific Purposes (ESP) classes at the University level do not meet the basic competence and learning outcome as prescribed and expected. Lack of lesson planning, unmet needs and expectations of learners and teachers as well as irrelevant material to the field of the study, are found to be some of the influencing factors contributed to the success of the expected teaching and learning in ESP class. Based on this fact, it is important to conduct a study that put more emphasis in identifying learners’ needs (Needs Analysis). This is particularly useful to facilitate the expectation of the learners to have an English class that is relevant to their field of study. In line with this aim of the study, this current research was conducted in Chemistry Education Program of Pattimura University where the ESP subject has been inserted in the curriculum under the subject of English for Chemistry since the year of 2017. Thirty-three students were involved as the participants in the survey by answering 20 items provided in the questionnaire. The result shows that the majority of the students (39.4%) admitted that they would be interested in learning English if the materials are relevant to the Chemistry study, but still has the linguistics elements in English. This finding was also supported by 69.7% of the respondents who said that they would be motivated in learning if the teacher uses contextual English materials in Chemistry that are possible to be implemented in their daily life. Additionally, students also gave several suggestions for the improvement of English Learning in terms of the focus of English skill, the approach and activities in learning. These findings are principally constructive as the input to design and/or develop the English material (Material Development) that will be used to teach English for Chemistry subject in Chemistry Education study program.Felicia LekatompessyHelena Rijoly

https://ojs.unpatti.ac.id/index.php/ises/article/view/834
This research was conducted in conjunction with the incessant attention to community empowerment in many countries in the world. People who work as farmers and fishermen who inhabit coastal areas in Maluku Province are less touched by community empowerment programs. They are often blamed, but are not trained to develop their businesses. This article presents the impact of entrepreneurship training through problem-based learning including: their learning needs, knowledge, skills, and attitudes, as well as the motivation to develop the business in a sustainable manner. This research develops questions that arise from problems in entrepreneurship training through problem-based learning. Training participants are members of coastal communities who are interested in becoming successful entrepreneurs. The main informants were 16 training participants and 2 instructors, each of whom had professional competence in the field of entrepreneurial management and non-formal education. Data collection through focus group discussion (FGD) and semi-structured interviews and non-participant observation and document study at their place of business. Using interactive model data analysis techniques (Miles, M. B. & Huberman, A. M. 1994). This study framed entrepreneurship training through problem-based learning as a process for the formation of new trainees' abilities, skills and learning experiences. The learning experience is the basic capital for sustainable business development.Abednego AbednegoJunita Liliana KundreLisa Maarce Sahetapy

2019-05-062019-05-062Potential of Microalgae Oil Extract From Maluku Waters as a Renewable Fuel Source
https://ojs.unpatti.ac.id/index.php/ises/article/view/835
Biodiesel is an alternative energy that is considered capable of<br />answering the problem of scarcity of fuel oil. Potential sources of<br />vegetable oil are microalgae which have higher oil productivity per unit<br />of land area used when compared to land plants. The large potential of<br />Microalgae is not widely known, especially those originating from the<br />waters of Maluku, so research needs to be done to identify the types of<br />microalgae and the quality of the biodiesel produced. Algae biomass was<br />obtain by cultivation used Walne medium. The research steps include<br />extracted microalgae oil with n-hexane, transesterification reaction of<br />microalgae and methanol oil with BF3CH3OH catalyst, followed by<br />filtration to separate biodiesel products with glycerol formed and tested<br />viscosity based on ASTM D 445 method. The results obtained showed<br />that the type of microalgae was Trichodesmium Erythraemia and had<br />kinematic viscosity of 2.85 cSt. To determine the chemical content in raw<br />materials and products, the extracted oil from microalgae and biodiesel<br />produced ware analysed by GC-MS. From the resulted of the GC-MS test,<br />it was found that the two largest fatty acid content in microalgae oil,<br />namely Hexadecanoic acid at 13.19% which is FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl<br />Ester), and 9-hexadecenoic acid (palmitoleic fatty acid) at 7.18% which<br />is FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester).Semuel UnwakolyJulita Manuhutu

2019-05-062019-05-062Local Wisdom Development in Creating Smart People With Marine Island Character
https://ojs.unpatti.ac.id/index.php/ises/article/view/836
Intelligent and characterized individuals are expected to be<br />produced through the Education process as what is the goal of national<br />education, namely to create intelligent Indonesian people who are<br />competitive but virtuous, meaning that besides having high intellectual<br />abilities, they also have good morals. In general, the pattern of the<br />younger generation life to duplicate the global community lives which<br />deviates from the pattern of the local community life. They prefer to the<br />modern lifestyle with communication patterns, dress patterns and even<br />ready-to-eat diets. Virtue values that have formed personality and<br />attitudes that are in accordance with the teachings of goodness have begun<br />to be displaced due to the harsh currents of globalization. The habit of<br />local people who show their identity is a cultural element that can survive<br />so that it is not easily influenced by the flow of globalization. In the<br />interaction between the local community ideas are found ideas or ideas<br />that are wise, full of norms and ethics that are embedded and followed by<br />all societies in the local social and cultural environment. The local<br />environment will form moral values, norms, and good ethics as a virtue<br />(wisdom). Wisdom values that arise in the local environment and shape a<br />person's character are known as local wisdom. One of the causes of<br />character fragility is due to not optimal character development in<br />educational institutions in addition to environmental conditions that do<br />not support. This apprehensive condition is of course troubling to many<br />circles. Therefore the formation of character is very important so that it<br />becomes the main mission in nation building. One way that can be used<br />is through education, because education is a conscious effort to develop<br />students' potential optimally. The terms of Tabia and Upu as well as Ina<br />are often appears in community relations. Tabia was a good afternoon<br />greeting, often can be said or delivered to anyone or an older person and<br />the term Upu means that the Father is provided to a King (Upu Latu or<br />Father of the King) or a traditional figure, while the term lna means<br />Mother in women, as a form of respect and appreciation. These principles and values are also increasingly fading, because today's young generation<br />is less concerned with these values because they are not told or taught<br />regularly to become meaningful rules in association.Theresia Laurens
